"Against The Wind"

"Against the Wind" is an upcoming single recorded and performed by Draco (under his musical moniker "Dinopunk"). It is a cover version of the song of the same name by Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. The single is not attached to a specific album or project but is being released to generate attention for Draco's upcoming album of original works, Songs I Wrote When I Was A Dragon. The lyrics to the song remain largely unchanged with the exception of the name of Seger's girlfriend (Janey) being replaced with "Nahara", the name of a dragon character from one of Draco's old fantasy stories.

The single is the first one released by Draco to have an accompanying music video, directed my documentary filmmaker Eric DeWolfe (The Men From Mexican Park).

Music video

The music video for "Against the Wind" starts with Draco taking the cassette of the original album by Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band and placing it into a portable stereo. As the music begins playing he steps over to an entertainment center and puts a VHS tape into a VCR. He sits down as old home movies play on the television. As the video continues footage plays of Draco performing the song inside the auditorium of the Rockport Elementary school building in Rockport, TX (Draco's hometown) to an empty room. The school, built in 1935, ceased operations in the early nineties and the condition of the building has deteriorated significantly in that time. Draco did, however, attend school there as a child.

Throughout the video footage of the home videos continue to play interspersed with shots of Draco in those same locations as they existed 30 or more years later. Photos of the pickup truck Draco bought upon graduating high school are shown when the vehicle was brand new to contrast the appearance of the same truck after 20 years now with faded paint and a damaged windshield. Draco uses the truck to go to several of the locations shown in the videos where he is seen in shot-for-shot recreations of the old footage. Among the places visited are Memorial Park, the large Christmas tree erected at the Rockport beachfront, and the backyard of the house Draco grew up in. Spencer Park is also seen in the music video, a reference to director Eric DeWolfe's documentary about the basketball team who played there (the park was known as "Mexican Park" by the local residents due to the demographics of the community).
