Chef Excellence is the name given to a stock photo of a smiling mustached man wearing a traditional chef's hat that was used in the 2010's for the purposes of selling cheap kitchen goods in Poundland, a dollar store in the United Kingdom. He became something of a minor internet icon when comedian Stuart Ashen reviewed an assortment of food storage bags bearing his face inside of an ornate oval with his name, "Chef Excellence", displayed across a ribbon under it. The bags were meant to keep food fresh longer and came in an assortment of colors with each one corresponding to a specific type of food (yellow for cheese, red for meat, and green for vegetables), however these were nothing more than standard zipper-lock bags in assorted colors and were made of the same material as a standard clear bag. As such, they did nothing in the way of keeping food fresh longer than a standard bag of the same type. The "Chef Excellence" character became something of a running gag on the Ashens channel for several years with the photo of the chef appearing on screen with an inspiring jingle as text reading "An Excellent ____" faded in under him (the blank being filled in with a reference to whatever was just on screen prior).
An emote version of Chef Excellence was added to the Gatorbox channel via FrankerFaceZ as part of the initial 2015 lineup, however it was retired in 2019 due to lack of use.
