The Last Half of Darkness

The Last Half of Darkness is a point-and-click survival horror game released for MS-DOS systems in 1989 by SoftLab. It was featured on Gatorbox in a 2022 stream where Draco introduced it as one of the examples of him featuring a game in order to "face a childhood fear", something he similarly did with Maniac Mansion.

The stream that featured Last Half was received well enough that Draco opted to feature the other two games in the trilogy, which in turn started a running gag of turning the name of the game series into a math joke. Draco retroactively began referring to the first game as "the first third of the last half of darkness" and then declaring it the "fourth-sixth of darkness" as in a roundabout way if you were to interpret the sentence in literal terms you would wind up four parts into a six-part process. The second and third games were referred to in a similar manner. In 2025, The Last Half of Darkness received a remastered release on its 35th anniversary and this version was also featured on the show with Draco reviving the math joke now referring to the remastered edition as "the second version of the first third of the last half of darkness". When the feature took two streams to complete he opened the follow-up broadcast with a further extended gag, "the second half of the second version of the first third of the last half of darkness".

Last Half became a stream staple after the featuring of its anniversary remaster; the original 1989 game was included in the schedule of 2025's Extra Life charity event and the caretaker's dog was added to the roster of stream emoticons for the 2026 season. A clip show compilation of the best moments from the streams of the original trilogy was released as part of the channel's Born on the Bayou playlist of greatest hits in 2026.
