Accidental Swastika

An accidental swastika refers to something that appears either in a video game or an unboxing that, usually unintentionally, resembles the shape of the swastika symbol. Despite the symbol existing throughout human history for centuries if not millennia and generally being associated with middle eastern religion and culture (where it is a symbol of good luck) the swastika has largely had an overwhelmingly negative connotation in the western world for the past century due to its prominent use by the Nazis before and during World War II. There is a notable difference between the Hindu and Nazi swastikas, for example, but the general shape itself has essentially become carte blanche associated with white supremacy and genocide.

Whenever something that resembles a swastika shows up during a stream Draco usually catches it and refers to it as an "accidental swastika". Understandably, given the extremely negative perception of the symbol, this inside joke does not have an emoticon to go with it because that would require there to be an emote that is literally either a swastika or something very close to it associated with the Gatorbox channel.

Notable accidental swastikas include:

  • "The End of Club Penguin" - Draco was followed by a griefer for the latter half of the stream who was using a script to deploy several dummy accounts in the shape of a swastika, likely an homage to the "pools closed" griefing that 4chan users once carried out in Habbo Hotel. Draco referred to this one in particular as a "tactical swastika".
  • That's Not Lego! Best Lock 3-in-1 Set - After building the yellow spider robot Draco noted that its four legs when splayed out closely resembled an accidental swastika.
