Mayro is the nickname given to an emote of Mario making a very exaggerated expression; it is made from a screenshot of the Mario face from the title screen of Super Mario 64 that has been stretched out (if the player holds the R button Mario's face will stay in its stretched state allowing multiple parts of his face to be pulled around). The name of the emoticon is an intentional misspelling of Mario's and is the counterpart to the Sanic emote which shows Sonic the Hedgehog with a similarly messed up face. Contrary to popular belief, Draco did not actually make the expression seen in the Mayro emote. The emoticon was made from a very old 4chan reaction image that was often copied and pasted on top of other photos, hence its relatively low resolution. Draco has unsuccessfully tried to recreate the exact face in a Nintendo 64 emulator with high-res settings and has stated that Roastmaster has also submitted an Extra Life game challenge for Super Mario 64 with the goal being to create the Mayro face.
Mayro was added with a half-dozen other Mario-related emotes in 2019 in anticipation of the second season of Your Level Sucks. To denote it as a show emoticon Draco gave Mayro and the other icons the prefix "YLS" as opposed to the standard "GB" that had been established on FrankerFaceZ in 2015. As such it is one of only a few channel emotes to have a unique prefix. Out of all the emotes added for Your Level Sucks Mayro wound up being the most used one by a significant margin, so much that Draco added it as a Twitch subscriber emote (gatorbMayro) following the conclusion of the show when the majority of the other show-specific emotes were retired. In the years following the conclusion of Your Level Sucks Mayro has remained a channel staple. When animated emotes were added to the Twitch platform in 2024 Draco created a version titled MayroPLZ that infinitely zooms into Mario's mouth.
