Movie Commentaries

Following the launch of the stream's Patreon and Gumroad pages in 2015 one of the perks Draco wanted to include were movie commentary tracks. These would be MP3 files that listeners could download and play alongside a DVD release of a movie which would allow Gatorbox to distribute the commentary tracks without needing to overlay the audio track on top of a copyrighted movie and distribute that with the potential of receiving a DMCA notice, a strategy pioneered by Rifftrax that is still in use today.

Despite remaining an active project for several years no commentary tracks were ever recorded due to the fact that Draco said he'd like to have himself and two other hosts on each track and attempting to sync everyone's schedules together proved to be extremely difficult, especially taking into account the geographic locations of all of the hosts. Eventually, the Gatorbox page on Gumroad was closed down due to the limited number of releases and an overall lack of adoption by viewers. This coincided with the shuttering of the movie commentary project as well. Draco says he is open to the idea of attempting the project again though only if he can make it a sure deal as there are several other series and ideas in the works for Gatorbox at any given time.
