2cents (originally 2cents.png) is an emoticon from the RFSHQ message boards that made its way onto Gatorbox in 2015 as part of the first wave of icons added through FrankerFaceZ. The emote refers to the idiom "just my two cents" which is said whenever someone provides their input or opinion on a given topic.
Origin
When Gatorbox initially partnered with FrankerFaceZ in 2015 the channel was only three years old and hadn't yet developed enough inside jokes and references to turn into emotes to fill their slot allocation. To fill the empty slots Draco turned to his archive of emotes from projects he'd previously worked on, namely RFSHQ (a comedy website that existed between 2004 and 2008). The 2cents emote was something Draco made in 2005 for the message boards there and still had the icon saved to his computer so he added it to FrankerFaceZ with the others. What's notable about the 2cents emote is that its icon is the exact same one that was used on RFSHQ in 2005, even to this day. Draco has elected not to update the emote to a higher resolution like he has with other ones (Beemovie, Gawe, Rasta Otter, etc) because he wants the original version to continue to exist as part of RFSHQ's legacy. The emote has also never been retired or disabled making it the longest-running and longest-surviving emote on the channel.
