Rasta Otter is one of the mascots of Gatorbox. As his name suggests Rasta Otter is an otter, specifically one with black dreadlocks wearing a traditional Rastafarian beanie hat. He is commonly associated with stoner culture and imagery of Rasta Otter often sees him paired up with the "CHILL" logo from the Gatorbox &CHILL casual streams where he acts as the de facto mascot for the stream layout.
Rasta Otter was born as a result of a Shush Or Hush-style joke made during a 2015 project to repaint the PC game Hamsterball Deluxe. The game in question displays the text "READY SET GO!" as three separate images, the letters of these words were arranged into various anagrams until "RASTA OTTER .ORG" was settled upon (the period being made by cheating slightly and removing the upper part of the exclamation mark). The domain name was purchased, a gimmick site was put up, and the joke was primed to be released with the patch for Hamsterball. Unfortunately this project failed and neither Rasta Otter nor his website would be seen.
In a 2018 After Hours video Draco decided to bring the mascot back to the stream by way of turning him into a regular character while explaining Rasta Otter's troubled history. He acquired a small otter toy from McDonald's and had a small Rastafarian beanie custom-made to fit the toy by Doris Dresses Dolls, an independent artist who stitches custom clothes for Barbie dolls. Rasta Otter became an emote in both the Gatorbox Twitch stream and Discord server, and a higher-resolution version of the character's bust was made available as both a sticker and a T-shirt (paired with the "Gatorbox &CHILL" logo). Several emoticons exist within Gatorbox's Twitch channel that feature otters making various expressions (GBrasta, GBotter, and GBbless). In 2021 all of the otter emoticons on the channel were edited to feature Rasta Otter's trademark beanie.
Canon
Because Rasta Otter came about by the non-standard way of an attempt to invent a punchline he doesn't actually have a concrete backstory within the Gatorbox world. He also does not have a proper name like the majority of the other mascots since his name is an anagram. Draco has retroactively spun Rasta Otter as a person he attended college and shared a dorm with. Given his freewheeling nature Rasta Otter was not a star student and cut class to smoke weed.
When asked which mascot would be most likely to betray him Draco answered Rasta Otter. This was later explained to not be out of malice but incompetence with Draco giving the example of telling him to take a cake out of the oven at a given time and Rasta Otter, after getting high, either forgetting about the cake causing it to burn or remembering to take the cake out but winding up getting hungry and eating the whole thing.
